My dear son,
I gladly listen when you tell me what you are thankful for. It does not have to be something impressive enough to announce to everyone. Your warm appreciation for an ordinary act of kindness reveals something lovely in your heart.
Share the grace you have received gently, so that people in humble circumstances can rejoice too. I would rather see you smile together in praise than compete for admiration. Let your gratitude become a song that welcomes someone else in.
Share your joy with me this evening. Tell of the love you have received, and welcome another person's story as well. I love the moments when your thankfulness joins with theirs. Let us rejoice together.
