Recognizing Grace Again

My dear son,

There are moments when even nearby love is hard to see. Please do not let the feeling of one moment become the final word on our relationship. Bring me the questions forming in your heart just as they are.

Even if you feel forgotten by me, tell me how that feels. Sometimes help becomes recognizable only later. Seek my face and speak honestly about both what you feel now and what you have already lived through.

If you remember a kind hand in your life this evening, let us give thanks together. You do not need to force a conclusion about what you still do not understand. I want to keep talking with you for a long time.

21Praise be to the LORD, for he has shown me his marvelous loving kindness in a strong city.
22As for me, I said in my haste, “I am cut off from before your eyes.” Nevertheless you heard the voice of my petitions when I cried to you.

A short reflection

The psalmist praises God's remarkable love, recalling that though he hastily felt cut off from God's sight while besieged, the Lord heard his plea.
