An Evening to Listen to Your Body

My dear son,

My love for you is not limited to your energetic days. Your life remains precious when your body asks for rest. This evening, listen patiently to what your body is telling you and give it the rest it needs.

If sorrow has drained your eyes and body of strength, tell me what help you need instead of promising to endure more. I welcome a prayer asking for mercy. You do not need to use your last ounce of strength before you deserve love.

Please do not feel ashamed when someone cares for you. When strength is plentiful, you can share love in turn. Before any accounting of what you have done, I want to hold you dear today.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 31:9–10

WEB

9Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am in distress. My eye, my soul, and my body waste away with grief.

10For my life is spent with sorrow, my years with sighing. My strength fails because of my iniquity. My bones are wasted away.

A short reflection

Worn down by prolonged sorrow and suffering, the psalmist asks for the Lord's mercy and describes his failing eyes, body, soul, and strength.
