A Song That Turned from Weeping to Dancing
My dear son,
Today I want to remind you that I am a Father who delights in your laughter. If something has brought you joy, do not put it aside as too small to mention. The happiness of my beloved child is a precious story to me.
Enjoy the love you have received freely, as though you were dressed for dancing. Laugh when you are happy and sing when you are grateful. I treasure the way you honor your days and gladly remember the hands that helped you.
Let us talk about whatever gratitude comes to mind tonight. Smile warmly at someone else's happiness too. Sharing joy does not reduce your portion, so let your love be generous.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 30:10–12
WEB10Hear, LORD, and have mercy on me. LORD, be my helper.”
11You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,
12to the end that my heart may sing praise to you, and not be silent. LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
A short reflection
After asking for mercy and help, the psalmist thanks the Lord for turning mourning into dancing and sackcloth into joy, and promises enduring praise.
