Your Life Was Precious from the Beginning

My dear son,

Your life did not become valuable only when you grew capable of doing many things. You were precious when you were small and dependent on care. I do not see you only in terms of what you accomplish.

Lean on me as a little child rests in a mother's arms. When you urgently need help, call to your Father and ask me to stay close. Even at your most vulnerable, my desire to meet you as my beloved child remains unchanged.

Take care of your body and heart tonight. Receive help, and share the love you have received. I want you to know that even when you need someone to hold you, you are still my dearly loved child.

With all my love,
Your Father

9But you brought me out of the womb. You made me trust while at my mother’s breasts.

10I was thrown on you from my mother’s womb. You are my God since my mother bore me.

11Don’t be far from me, for trouble is near. For there is no one to help.

A short reflection

With trouble near and no one to help, the psalmist remembers God's care from birth and asks the God he has trusted since infancy not to remain far away.
