Tending Your Words and Thoughts Tonight
My dear son,
As you look back on the words exchanged today, give your heart some gentle attention too. There may be things you did not notice at the time. I want to help you grow in honesty and kindness, not drive you harshly.
Ask me to help you see wrongs you may have missed. Speak honestly with me about your private thoughts as well as the words you say aloud. I want my love to grow within you and find expression in your words and actions.
Come that honestly tonight. If you see something that needs correction, we can work on it together. I want loving words to grow on your lips and a good, deep joy to grow in your heart.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 19:12–14
WEB12Who can discern his errors? Forgive me from hidden errors.
13Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me. Then I will be upright. I will be blameless and innocent of great transgression.
14Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, LORD, my rock, and my redeemer.
A short reflection
The psalmist asks for protection from hidden faults and deliberate sins, and prays that his words and inward thoughts will be acceptable to the Lord.
