The One Who Lights Your Lamp

My dear son,

An evening lamp can light the space nearby without filling the whole sky. You do not need every answer before you come to me. A desire to learn is a welcome reason to draw close.

I am the God who helps the vulnerable and brings proud eyes low. Keep your heart open to learning from me instead of assuming you know everything. As the Father who lights your lamp, I want to teach you gently which way is right.

If thinking about tomorrow raises a question, ask me. What you do not yet know does not lessen my affection for you. Let your shoulders relax tonight, and spend a little quiet time with me.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 18:27–28

WEB

27For you will save the afflicted people, but the arrogant eyes you will bring down.

28For you will light my lamp, LORD. My God will light up my darkness.

A short reflection

The psalmist declares that God saves the afflicted, humbles the proud, lights his lamp, and turns his darkness into light.
