Remembering the Hand Reaching toward You

My dear son,

I hope you can accept someone's outstretched hand with gratitude. Love does not value only the person who gives help. The one receiving it and the one offering a place of welcome are both precious to each other.

Trust me as you would grasp a hand reaching down into deep water. I do not take your need for care lightly. I am a Father who wants you to seek my help and enjoy a place where you can breathe freely.

That is what I want you to hear tonight. Your life need not be measured only by what you accomplished alone. Let us give thanks for kindness given and received. You are my child, and you may gladly receive love.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 18:16–19

WEB

16He sent from on high. He took me. He drew me out of many waters.

17He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me; for they were too mighty for me.

18They came on me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support.

19He brought me out also into a large place. He delivered me, because he delighted in me.

A short reflection

The psalmist remembers how the Lord reached down to rescue him from deep waters, powerful enemies, and disaster, bringing him into a spacious and secure place.
