The Joy of Being Together

My dear son,

Something special does not have to happen for our time together to matter. Sitting with you and hearing the ordinary details of your life brings me joy. I hope you can feel that same ease beside me this evening.

I want you to find delight simply in turning toward my face and being with me. Let ours be a relationship we enjoy for its own sake, beyond whatever gifts you receive. You are my beloved child, and I want to share that lasting joy with you.

Turn toward me for a moment. Tell me what is on your mind, or rest quietly if you prefer. This time you spend seeking me is precious. I welcome you gladly.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 17:15

WEB

15As for me, I shall see your face in righteousness. I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with seeing your form.

A short reflection

The psalmist declares that he will behold God's face in righteousness and, upon waking, find satisfaction in seeing God's likeness and being with him.
