A Song That Trusts My Love
My dear son,
I want to hear both your requests for help and your words of gratitude. You do not need to choose just one feeling before you can talk with me. Open your heart honestly and sit here beside me.
Even when your life feels threatened, ask me for help. Trusting my steadfast love gives you no reason to hide what you need. My desire is to preserve and care for you, and I welcome your honest dependence on me.
Come to me just as you are today. Share what makes you glad, and ask without hesitation for the help you need. My love for you does not change like a passing mood.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 13:3–6
WEB3Behold, and answer me, LORD, my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death;
4lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him;” lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall.
5But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation.
6I will sing to the LORD, because he has been good to me.
A short reflection
The psalmist asks God to give light to his eyes so he will not sleep in death, then trusts God's steadfast love and anticipates the joy of salvation and praise.
