Precious beneath the Moon and Stars
My dear son,
When I think of the moon and stars at night, I think of you too. Would I, who made the vast heavens, pass you by as too small to notice? Your presence matters to me, and I watch your life with tender care.
As you marvel at the moon and stars I made, treasure your own life as well. I did not make the sky beautiful while leaving human beings worthless. Receive with peace the love that remembers you and cares for you.
Tonight, rest in knowing that you are deeply valued. Look at the people around you with that same regard. In the world I have made, there is room for both you and your neighbor.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 8:3–5
WEB3When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained,
4what is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him?
5For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor.
A short reflection
Looking at God's moon and stars, the psalmist marvels that God remembers and cares for humanity, and praises the honor and glory he has given people.
