The Joy of Seeking My Face
My dear son,
I love this evening with you, as though we were sitting face to face. Having more in your hands can bring pleasure, but the joy of someone you love being near is different. I want you to know me as a Father that close.
Enjoy our time together as freely as a generous harvest of grain and wine. I welcome the delight you take in seeking my face. Beyond counting what you have received, you can simply be at ease with the Father who loves you.
If something made you grateful today, let us enjoy it together. You need no remarkable story to bring. I am glad you are here. Rest tonight as my beloved child.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 4:6–8
WEB6Many say, “Who will show us any good?” LORD, let the light of your face shine on us.
7You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and their new wine are increased.
8In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me live in safety.
A short reflection
Amid people's longing for good things, the psalmist seeks the light of the Lord's face and gives thanks for joy greater than abundant harvests and for peaceful sleep.
