A Quiet Night to Examine Your Heart

My dear son,

At the end of a day, many words may linger in your heart. Tell me about the ones you appreciated and the ones you want to reconsider. I want to hear you. Your thoughts do not have to arrive neatly arranged.

If something has made you angry, sit beside me with that feeling for a while. Do not let anger take control of your words. In the quiet of your bed, examine your heart and ask me for wisdom.

Your sincere trust brings me joy. You do not need to rush to settle every conversation tonight. Let us look gently and honestly at your heart together, so that love continues to shape the words you choose.

With all my love,
Your Father

4Stand in awe, and don’t sin. Search your own heart on your bed, and be still. Selah.

5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness. Put your trust in the LORD.

A short reflection

The psalmist urges readers not to sin in anger, to reflect quietly on their hearts in bed, to offer right sacrifices, and to trust the Lord.
