Within the Comfort You Give and Receive
My dear son,
You who comfort others may receive comfort, too. You do not always have to stand with an appearance of strength. I am your compassionate Father, and I want you to ask freely for the care you need.
When life is difficult, share your heart with me and lean on kind hands nearby. The comfort you receive may become love you can offer someone else. Knowing what a hurting heart feels like can help you listen longer.
Tonight, recall the warmth you have received. As you comfort others, continue to care for your own body and heart. Within this giving and receiving, rest as the child your Father dearly cherishes.
With all my love,
Your Father
2 Corinthians 1:3–4
WEB3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
4who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
A short reflection
Paul praises God for comforting believers in every affliction and enabling them to comfort others with the comfort they have received.
