Forgiveness for a New Beginning

My dear son,

When you recognize a wrong, I want more for you than remaining in shame. Speak honestly with your Father and ask for mercy. The forgiveness you receive opens a way toward living anew.

Jesus refused to condemn the woman and told her to leave her sin. In the same way, my compassion is meant to help you make different choices. Look clearly at what needs changing without spending your life punishing yourself.

Tonight, talk calmly with me about what needs repair and what you want to honor going forward. Ask for strength to love people more truthfully. Your Father wants to close this night gently with the child whose heart is opening to new life.

With all my love,
Your Father

John 8:10–11

WEB

10Jesus, standing up, saw her and said, “Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?”

11She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.”

A short reflection

After the accusers leave, Jesus tells the woman that he does not condemn her and instructs her to sin no more.
