Look at the Depth of the Heart

My dear son,

Two small coins can carry the depth of a person's heart. I do not measure your love only by what can be seen and counted. Tell me freely the sincere thing you want to offer me today.

When someone gives, consider their circumstances and heart as well. A gift can be precious without being larger than anyone else's. Look honestly at what you can share, and offer love with gladness.

Tonight, reflect slowly on what you have received and what you would like to give. The ability to notice small acts of care is precious, too. End the day rejoicing in sincere love with the Father who sees your heart closely.

With all my love,
Your Father

Mark 12:41–44

WEB

41Jesus sat down opposite the treasury and saw how the multitude cast money into the treasury. Many who were rich cast in much.

42A poor widow came and she cast in two small brass coins, which equal a quadrans coin.

43He called his disciples to himself and said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, this poor widow gave more than all those who are giving into the treasury,

44for they all gave out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, gave all that she had to live on.”

A short reflection

Jesus tells his disciples that the poor widow's two small coins represented all she had to live on.
