Love That Welcomes a Child
My dear son,
Tonight I want to welcome you with the warmth of someone gladly taking a child into their arms. You do not need to show how impressive you are before you come. I am waiting with love and a desire to bless you.
Receive that love with an open heart. What you can give back does not set the measure of my welcome. As Jesus welcomed children and held them close, I want you near me.
There is no shame in asking for care or receiving it. Stay beside me tonight as my beloved child. Welcome the little lives near you with kindness, too, and share in this tenderness.
With all my love,
Your Father
Mark 10:13–16
WEB13They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.
14But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.
15Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”
16He took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
A short reflection
Jesus rebukes those who hinder the children, welcomes and blesses them, and teaches about receiving God's kingdom.
