The Father Who Delights in Mercy

My dear son,

I want you to know what kind of Father I am. I delight in showing mercy and forgiving wrongs. I do not hold on endlessly to anger toward the child who returns to me.

When you recognize sin, come to me instead of hiding it or trying to wash it away yourself. Rely on the grace that forgives, casting sin into the depths of the sea. Your past failures will not become the only name I call you.

Look honestly at what needs repairing, and reach again toward those you can love. Let the mercy you have received shape your words. Rest tonight within your Father's deep forgiveness.

With all my love,
Your Father

Micah 7:18–19

WEB

18Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness.

19He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

A short reflection

Micah praises God for pardoning the remnant's sin, delighting in mercy, and casting their sins into the depths of the sea.
