Lift Your Eyes Toward Me

My dear son,

As you finish the day, lift your eyes toward me for a moment. Pause from counting how much you hold in your hands, and spend time with the Father who offers you mercy.

As a servant looks to a master's hand, you can look to me for help. Tell me quietly what you are hoping for. Your life can be sustained by more than what you are able to provide for yourself.

Share the feeling of waiting, and tell me what you are thankful for. You do not need many words. Treasure this time with your eyes turned toward your Father, and let your body rest comfortably tonight.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 123:1–2

WEB

1I lift up my eyes to you, you who sit in the heavens.

2Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD, our God, until he has mercy on us.

A short reflection

The worshiping community looks to God for mercy as servants look to the hand of their master.
