A Conversation Before Sleep
My dear son,
Before you go to sleep, I would like to share a gentle conversation with you. Has something from today stayed on your mind? It need not be remarkable. I welcome even a short greeting offered as you think of your Father.
When you cling to me, my hand is holding you as well. Our relationship does not depend on your grip alone. Rely on my help and enjoy the shelter of my wings.
Smile as you tell me something you appreciated, or hum a song you love. Stay near my love as the day ends. Rest in the hand of the Father who holds you, and close your eyes peacefully.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 63:6–8
WEB6when I remember you on my bed, and think about you in the night watches.
7For you have been my help. I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.
8My soul stays close to you. Your right hand holds me up.
A short reflection
The psalmist remembers God in bed and through the night, rejoicing in his help and shelter while clinging to the God who upholds him.
