Lead Me to Higher Ground

My dear son,

If you come to a rock too high to climb by yourself, you may ask for help. I am your Father, ready to hear you and take your hand as you look for firmer ground.

Even from a place that feels far away, let me hear your voice. I am the rock you can rely on and the refuge you can enter. On days when your strength is small, my care is still yours to seek.

Tonight, think about the help you need as well as the things you can do yourself. Tell me about both. You are welcome to stay beside me. End this day with the comfort of having found a secure place to rest.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 61:1–4

WEB

1Hear my cry, God. Listen to my prayer.

2From the end of the earth, I will call to you when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3For you have been a refuge for me, a strong tower from the enemy.

4I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah.

A short reflection

Fainthearted, the psalmist asks God to hear his prayer, lead him to a higher rock, and provide refuge.
