Looking Back at Today's Words

My dear son,

Shall we think quietly about the words you spoke today? Tell me which ones encouraged someone and which ones you would choose differently now. I want tenderness to shape both your speech and the thoughts beneath it.

You need not work only on sounding pleasant. Set your honest feelings before me, and let us consider what could change. Lean on me, your rock, as you look truthfully at yourself.

If gratitude comes to mind, express it. If words need correcting, prepare to do so calmly. I delight in hearing the love in what you say. Speak freely with me tonight as you bring this day to a close.

With all my love,
Your Father
