Love That Hears Your Pain

My dear son,

When you tell me about something painful, I will not dismiss you for finding it hard. I do not treat a suffering person's distress as unimportant. Let me hear your voice whenever you need help.

You need not compare your circumstances with anyone else's to decide whether you may pray. There is room for your story here. Whisper my name or pour out your whole heart. Your Father is listening.

If you are comfortable tonight, enjoy that rest fully. If someone beside you speaks of pain, take time to listen. I want to cherish both you and your neighbor with a love that turns toward suffering.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 22:24

WEB

24For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, neither has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard.

A short reflection

The psalm praises God for hearing the afflicted person's cry instead of despising his suffering or hiding his face.
