Beneath the Shelter of My Wings
My dear son,
Think of how carefully people protect their own eyes. That is how precious I want you to know you are to me. Asking me to care for you is never a request you need to feel small or embarrassed about.
Seek rest beside me, like a young bird sheltered beneath a parent's wings. Your place as my child does not depend on protecting everything yourself. Where you need shelter, you may call your Father.
Tonight, share your prayers for yourself and those you love. Hold these lives I treasure gently in your own heart, too. You also belong within my love. Settle your body comfortably and rest.
With all my love,
Your Father

A short reflection
The psalmist asks God to guard him like the pupil of an eye and hide him in the shadow of his wings.
