Love That Remains After Lament

My dear son,

I want to remind you of my steadfast love today. Your words to me can include more than thanks. If you are waiting for something, ask how long. Speak honestly about the questions you carry.

Hearing those questions does not lessen my love. Trust me enough to share what is inside. I want you to know you are the child who can return to me and speak, even after a long lament.

If your heart is ready to sing, let us enjoy that gladness together. If this is still a night of waiting, rest a while in my love. Let the assurance of your Father's generous care stay with you as the day ends.

With all my love,
Your Father
