Caring for the Road We Share

My dear son,

As we walk together, I care about more than how quickly you move ahead. There is beauty in strengthening tired hands and unsteady knees, and in choosing a path where someone already weak will not be hurt further.

Seek peace with the people you meet. Choose words that help each other grow instead of words meant to win. Lean on me when the right path asks more of you than the easy one. Your desire to live this way delights me.

Give your own steps some room today. It is all right to wait for someone, and it is all right to receive help. I want to share a day of caring for one another and growing more like me.

With all my love,
Your Father

Hebrews 12:12–14

12Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees,

13and make straight paths for your feet, so what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

14Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord,

A short reflection

The writer of Hebrews calls the weary community to regain strength, walk rightly without further harming the weak, and pursue peace with everyone and holiness.
