A Morning with a Listening Heart
My dear son,
Just as you listen closely to someone you love, I heard my people's cries. I did not treat their suffering in Egypt as a distant concern. I sent Moses because I loved them and cared about what they were enduring.
I would love for you to offer that same attentive kindness to others. You do not need to find an answer immediately. As you listen to someone all the way through, you may begin to understand what they truly need.
I want to share that love with you this morning. Tell me the things that make you smile, and tell me when you need help. My care for you is close today.
With all my love,
Your Father
Exodus 3:7–10
WEB7The LORD said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
8I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
9Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.
10Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
A short reflection
God sees and hears Israel's suffering under Egyptian oppression and tells Moses he is sending him to Pharaoh to bring the people out.
