Gentle Hands under a Shared Burden

My dear son,

When you help someone turn from wrongdoing, do not demean them. You can speak clearly about what needs to change and still be gentle. I want love to shape the desire to help another person find their footing again.

Remember that you, too, can face temptation. Consider the help the person actually needs instead of spreading their story. Hands willing to carry a burden together can give someone strength to turn in a better direction.

If a person near you asks for help today, listen calmly. Speak honestly when you need support too. Let us grow relationships where each person takes responsibility and people can help one another in love.

With all my love,
Your Father

Galatians 6:1–2

WEB

1Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted.

2Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

A short reflection

Paul calls believers to restore a person caught in sin gently, watch their own vulnerability to temptation, and fulfill Christ's law by bearing one another's burdens.
