A Word That Shows the Way Back
My dear son,
If hearing my words makes you want to change direction, do not hide that desire. When people asked what they should do, Peter invited them to repent, receive baptism in Jesus' name, and receive forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
I do not want recognizing wrong to leave you sitting in self-hatred. Return honestly to me. My loving call carries a promise for those nearby, their children, and those far away. There is a way forward.
If you see something to put right today, begin with a small step. Offer a sincere apology and fulfill your responsibilities. I love your return and want you to open your heart to walking anew.
With all my love,
Your Father
Acts 2:37–39
WEB37Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”
A short reflection
Peter urges his hearers, convicted by his message, to repent and be baptized in Jesus' name, offering forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
