The Spirit of Truth Will Be with You

My dear son,

I do not want you to think that love is something you must produce alone by trying harder. Jesus promised that the Spirit of truth would remain with his disciples forever. Begin this day by asking for the Spirit's help.

Let your words of love become small acts of obedience. Speak when truth needs a voice, and reach out where someone needs care. You may ask me for the wisdom those choices require. You are welcome to seek help.

I am glad you have come near this morning. Let us consider your choices calmly and seek my will. Receive the Spirit's companionship gratefully as you learn to love and put that love into practice.

16I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever:
17the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive, for it doesn’t see him and doesn’t know him. You know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Jesus connects love with keeping his commands and promises to ask the Father for the Helper, the Spirit of truth, to remain with the disciples forever.
