Look to the Bread of Life
My dear son,
Do not put a price on the love that gives you life. When Jesus called himself the bread of life, he spoke of the gift I sent to give life to the world. Receive it gratefully, without treating it as wages you must earn.
As food nourishes your body, trust Jesus and listen to his words with joy. You need not conceal your needs before me. Ask for the wisdom and love you need to live this day.
Offer a word of thanks at your table this morning. Enjoy the grace you receive, and cherish your neighbors' lives too. May the love that sustains you become visible in the care your hands offer others.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 6:32–35
WEB32Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.
33For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.”
34They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”
35Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
A short reflection
Jesus says the Father gives the true bread that brings life to the world and identifies himself as the bread of life who satisfies those who believe.
