Bread Shared with Thanks
My dear son,
Do not hide a generous heart because what you have seems small. When five barley loaves and two fish were brought before Jesus, he gave thanks and shared them with the crowd. There was joy in eating together.
A small amount does not require small gratitude. Receive today's food thankfully, and notice the people beside you. I want you to enjoy the simple gladness of sitting together and sharing what is given.
You do not have to wait until you possess much before you can love. A shared meal or a little practical help can carry sincere care. Begin this morning with me, treating what is already in your hands as something precious.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 6:8–11
WEB8One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,
9“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?”
10Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down, likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.
A short reflection
Andrew points out a boy's barley loaves and fish; Jesus seats the crowd, gives thanks, and distributes as much as the people want.
