An Invitation to Come and Stay
My dear son,
Tell me what you are looking for today. Jesus asked that question of the two people following him. When they asked where he was staying, he invited them to come and see, and they spent the day together. I want that closeness with you too.
You may stay awhile. You do not need an immediate answer or a grand decision to offer. Ask about what puzzles you in Scripture, and take your time considering what remains with you.
I am glad to meet you this morning. Share your hopes and curiosity. Time together is not empty time simply because nothing seems to be accomplished. Stay comfortably as you come to know me.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 1:38–39
WEB38Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”
39He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
A short reflection
Jesus asks two followers what they seek, invites them to come and see where he is staying, and spends time with them.
