A Home That Celebrates a Brother's Return

My dear son,

Someone else's warm welcome does not make your own place smaller. The father assured the older son outside the celebration that he had always been with him. You, too, may freely enjoy the love we share.

I love the child who stays close while rejoicing in the child who returns. Love is not a prize divided by counting who deserves a bigger share. Our time together is precious, and so is the joy of reunion.

When you hear someone's good news today, add your gladness to theirs. The love you have received has not disappeared. Enjoy what you can thank me for, and welcome another person's new beginning alongside me.

With all my love,
Your Father

Luke 15:31–32

WEB

31“He said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.

32But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’”

A short reflection

The father reassures his older son of their continuing relationship and explains why they must celebrate the return of his lost brother.
