Love That Remembers Forgiveness
My dear son,
You do not need impressive or costly words to express your love to me. Your sincere heart is enough. Jesus treasured the care of the woman who brought tears and perfume to his feet. I receive your honest expressions of love with that same tenderness.
As you remember the forgiveness you have received from me, offer a quiet word of thanks. There is no need to make it look grand. Love can live in a bowl of water or a warm welcome.
Give your affection freely to those you love today. Say what you appreciate or lend a needed hand. Your sincere expressions of love bring me joy.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 7:44–47
WEB44Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.
45You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.
46You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
47Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.”
A short reflection
Jesus contrasts Simon's welcome with the woman's tears and perfume, speaking of her great love and the forgiveness of her sins.
