Let Wisdom Guide Your Enthusiasm
My dear son,
If there is something you are eager to try today, tell me about it. Your enthusiasm matters to me. Before you begin, let us look at what you need so that your eagerness has a good foundation.
When you focus only on moving faster, even a small stone can trip you. Ask about what you do not understand, and learn what the task requires. Taking time to look carefully is part of preparing to move forward.
Do not lose your own footing trying to match someone else's pace. Learn what you need, one thing at a time. I treasure the process through which you become wiser, not merely the speed of your progress.
With all my love,
Your Father
Proverbs 19:2
WEB2It isn’t good to have zeal without knowledge, nor being hasty with one’s feet and missing the way.
A short reflection
The proverb cautions that enthusiasm without knowledge is unwise and that rushing leads to missteps, commending thoughtful action.
