Walking as You Wait for Love

My dear son,

The one who feeds young ravens calling for food and grows grass on the mountains also cares for you. You do not need to prove that you are fastest or strongest to receive my love. Your pace does not define you.

I delight in a heart that honors me and waits for my steadfast love. Lean on me on successful days and on days when you are still learning. Through them all, I remain your Father.

Choose calmly the steps you can take today. Notice your companions' pace, and rest when rest is needed. Alongside the pleasure of arriving, I want to share with you the joy of caring for each other on the way.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 147:8–11

WEB

8who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains.

9He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.

10He doesn’t delight in the strength of the horse. He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.

11The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his loving kindness.

A short reflection

The psalm describes God's provision of rain and food and says he delights in those who fear him and hope in his love rather than in physical strength.
