Remembering Where You Can Lean

My dear son,

Receive people's help with gratitude. At the same time, remember that no person's power or position can carry the ultimate responsibility for your life. You can find your deepest place of trust in my care.

Even while looking for someone who can help, tell me what is on your heart. You do not need persuasive words or an advantageous position to draw me close. I listen because I love you.

As you meet people today, learn, give thanks, and treat them honestly. Keep your worth secure beyond the answers anyone gives you. Place your heart in my care as you would lean against someone you trust, and begin calmly.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 118:8–9

WEB

8It is better to take refuge in the LORD, than to put confidence in man.

9It is better to take refuge in the LORD, than to put confidence in princes.

A short reflection

While praising God's salvation, the psalm teaches that taking refuge in the Lord is better than trusting human beings or rulers.
