A Small Bird's Home
My dear son,
Imagine the sparrow finding a home and the swallow sheltering her young near the altar. Even these small, busy creatures find a place to belong. I want you to feel that you can settle beside me, too.
Come to me with the ease of a child returning home. Stay with me, enjoy my love, and sing of the joy that rises in your heart. We can be together even when there is little to say.
May the place where you spend today hold that same warmth. You might offer someone a comfortable place to sit. With you, who love my house, I want to enjoy the quiet happiness of an ordinary morning.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 84:3–4
WEB3Yes, the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young, near your altars, LORD of Armies, my King, and my God.
4Blessed are those who dwell in your house. They are always praising you. Selah.
A short reflection
Seeing sparrows and swallows nest near God's altar, the psalmist celebrates the blessing of those who dwell in God's house and continually praise him.
