A Table Shared with Joy
My dear son,
Share joy and gratitude generously when you gather around a table. As the believers in Jerusalem broke bread and praised me, faith belongs in ordinary meals and everyday care for one another.
Consider what is in your hands and willingly contribute where someone needs help. You can also speak honestly when you need something. No one has to remain permanently assigned to giving or receiving.
Acknowledge each other's efforts and enjoy what you have received with thanks. Your Father delights in a table where hearts are shared along with food. I hope that kind of warmth and sincere joy will grow among the people you belong with today.
With all my love,
Your Father
Acts 2:44–47
WEB44All who believed were together, and had all things in common.
45They sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, according as anyone had need.
46Day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart,
47praising God and having favor with all the people. The Lord added to the assembly day by day those who were being saved.
A short reflection
The Jerusalem believers share possessions according to need, gather for meals with glad and sincere hearts, and praise God.
