Ask Your Good Father
My dear son,
Ask your Father for what you need today. Like a parent who would never give a child something harmful when asked for food, I want to give you good things. You need not hesitate to knock at my door.
Along with your hopes, ask how to live. Seek strength to love people and wisdom to recognize the right way. Ask for the Holy Spirit's help, and include your desire to follow my will in your prayer.
Keep talking with me instead of letting every thought end with you alone. Ask, seek, and live today's life faithfully. Open your heart in trust to the goodness of the Father who gives you the Holy Spirit.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 11:9–13
WEB9“I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.
10For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.
11“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?
12Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he?
13If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”
A short reflection
Jesus urges people to ask, seek, and knock, teaching that the heavenly Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.
