A Song to Welcome Morning

My dear son,

How would you like to begin this morning with a song? Like the psalmist calling for instruments to awaken the dawn, offer your Father a melody. Your voice does not have to be powerful or polished.

Sing a familiar hymn quietly, or express gratitude in your own words. I am listening for your heart, not judging whether you sing in tune. The time you spend turning your heart toward me is precious.

Before surrounding events claim every first word of your day, share some joy with me. Begin by remembering grace you have received. May the thanks you offer this morning return to mind in the busier hours ahead.

With all my love,
Your Father

7My heart is steadfast, God. My heart is steadfast. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises.

8Wake up, my glory! Wake up, lute and harp! I will wake up the dawn.

A short reflection

With a steadfast heart, the psalmist resolves to sing praise to God and awaken the dawn.
