Receiving the Kingdom with Gratitude and Awe
My dear son,
I am the God who gives you a kingdom that cannot be shaken. In a changing world, I do not want your hope tied only to the conditions before your eyes. Come near and gratefully enjoy the grace you have received.
The one who loves you is also holy. Do not treat lightly the holiness that, like fire, will not leave evil untouched. I want gratitude and the desire to live rightly to grow together within you.
Tell me tonight about the grace you enjoyed today. Ask for wisdom for the choices ahead. I welcome the love and reverence of your heart. Rest as you look toward your Father's kingdom, on which you can depend for all time.
With all my love,
Your Father
Hebrews 12:28–29

29for our God is a consuming fire.
A short reflection
Hebrews calls believers to serve God with gratitude and reverence because they are receiving an unshakable kingdom, while reminding them of God's holy judgment.
