A Faith That Stays Attentive
My dear son,
I want you to stay attentive to what is guiding your life. Take harmful temptation seriously and stand against it in trust in my word. Faith is not meant to lock you away in fear, facing everything by yourself.
Brothers and sisters who share your faith are persevering in their own places, too. You can pray for one another and reach out a helping hand. Receiving help does not make your faith smaller or less real.
If something is clouding your heart, pause and ask me for wisdom. Stay close to people who help you choose well. Tonight, care for your body and mind by giving them rest, and meet tomorrow with trust in your Father.
With all my love,
Your Father
1 Peter 5:8–9
WEB8Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
A short reflection
Peter urges vigilance against the devil, pictured as a prowling lion, and resistance through faith, reminding believers that their brothers and sisters worldwide share in suffering.
