Partial Knowledge and Lasting Love
My dear son,
You may accept with ease that what you know is still only part of the whole. You do not need every answer before you can love someone. Listening to circumstances you do not understand and patiently making room are forms of love, too.
Prophecy and knowledge are partial for now, but love does not pass away. Alongside the pleasure of learning, I want you to nurture the tenderness that values other people. Knowing more and loving well can grow together.
You may rest tonight with questions still unanswered. Leave room for further learning, and enjoy the love you can offer now. Your Father's heart is to fill your life with what will endure.
With all my love,
Your Father
1 Corinthians 13:8–10
WEB8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with.
9For we know in part and we prophesy in part;
10but when that which is complete has come, then that which is partial will be done away with.
A short reflection
Paul teaches that love never ends, while present prophecy and knowledge are partial and will pass away when completeness comes.
