A Heart That Boasts in the Cross

My dear son,

I hope you will not dress up your faith to appear more impressive than someone else. What matters to me is the new life growing within you. That life begins with the cross of Jesus and the love revealed there.

Paul boasted only in the cross because that love had made him new. Alongside what you have accomplished, notice the grace you have received. My love came looking for you even when you had nothing of your own to boast about.

You may gladly tell me what went well, and where you hope to grow. Tonight, rest in the love that renews you instead of measuring outward appearances. Enjoy the peace and mercy I offer you.

With all my love,
Your Father

Galatians 6:14–16

14But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

15For in Christ Jesus neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.

16As many as walk by this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on God’s Israel.

A short reflection

Paul boasts only in Christ's cross, declaring that new creation matters more than circumcision or its absence, and blesses those who follow this rule with peace and mercy.
