The Peace Jesus Left with You
My dear son,
The Holy Spirit I send will help you learn and remember Jesus' words. Do not assume that your memory and strength must sustain your faith all by themselves. You are a child who is welcome to ask for help.
The peace Jesus leaves is more than a brief reassurance that appears when every condition is right. It is peace received in the Lord who loves you. Draw close to that love instead of trying to force your feelings to change.
Set your tasks aside for a while tonight, and let your heart rest. Ask me to let my word guide you in tomorrow's life as well. I want you to rest comfortably within your Father's care.
With all my love,
Your Father
John 14:25–27
WEB25“I have said these things to you while still living with you.
26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.
27Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
A short reflection
Jesus promises that the Helper, the Holy Spirit, will teach the disciples and remind them of his words. He gives them his peace, unlike the peace the world gives.
