Room between the Words

My dear son,

I enjoy sitting with you in quiet conversation. A pause in speech does not need to feel awkward. Choose your thoughts slowly and offer them when you are ready. I am a Father who can wait with kindness.

Those with understanding know how to restrain their words and offer what is needed. Leave space to hear another person's heart instead of filling every silence with an explanation. Calm attention can carry deep love.

This evening, share a word you have heard and kept. There are relationships in which closeness does not require everything to be said. Enjoy that ease beside me as you enter the quiet of night. Your silent company is welcome too.

With all my love,
Your Father
