Loving the Person beyond a Fault
My dear son,
In close relationships, you will see each other's clumsy moments. I hope you do not attach an old wrong to someone as though it were their name whenever that happens. Notice their growth and kindness with gladness too.
Repeatedly raising something already apologized for and corrected can pull friends apart. Be generous about releasing small offenses that can be let go. Love includes making room for someone to begin living rightly again.
Tell me about the people near you tonight. Speak honestly about what still needs resolution, and willingly give thanks for what is good. I hope your relationships gain a warm spaciousness in which you and your neighbors can continue to grow.
With all my love,
Your Father
