A Simple Table Set with Love

My dear son,

The thought of people facing one another kindly across a simple table warms my heart. What you eat matters, and so does the heart you bring to the person beside you. I hope that kind of love is present in your meals.

A plate of vegetables shared with love is better than rich food eaten with hatred. Do not lose the joy of those near you while seeking only to increase what you own. Honor me and care for one another.

Receive tonight's meal gratefully and treat your body kindly. If someone is eating with you, welcome their conversation. As your Father, I treasure the love that can live at an ordinary table.

With all my love,
Your Father

Proverbs 15:16–17

WEB

16Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.

17Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.

A short reflection

Proverbs values little wealth with reverence for the Lord, and a simple meal shared in love, above riches accompanied by turmoil or an abundant meal with hatred.
